The '''Jonathan Belden Daniels Climbing Gym''' & its expanded '''Chuck Drake '90 & Josh Hane '89 Leadership & Training Room''' are located in the basement of the Maxwell Dormitory.  With two rooms of walls with varying steepness and interesting features; holds of all kinds; and ropes, harnesses, ATCs, and climbing shoes; the gym proudly provides for and accommodates all modes of climbing and ranges of ability, from the true beginner to the gym-rat expert.  All are welcome.  Although the gym is mostly used for bouldering during public hours, occasionally ropes will be used, requiring belayers to be checked by our monitoring staff.

For Fall term the gym is open Sunday - Thursday 5-11pm, Friday 5-8pm, and Saturday CLOSED beginning Monday, September 26, 2011 and ending Friday, December 2, 2011. Hours for the Winter and Spring terms will be similar.  The gym has no regular public hours during Summer term, but a monitor will occasionally open the gym and blitz out to the DMC list, inviting others to join.  To be put on the DMC list blitz the Dartmouth Mountaineering Club.

== Regular Term Hours ==  
  
Passes are available at the gym during business hours and at Outdoor Programs Office in Robinson Hall.  Day passes are $10 for the 2011-2012 school year.  Term passes are $50 for students, $70 for faculty and staff, and $100 for community members (community members must be DOC members) for the 2011-2012 school year.  We accept cash, dash, or check.  Rental shoes are provided, chalk is not.  The gym is also available for group rentals (harnesses and ATCs will be provided); blitz clg@dartmouth.edu for more information.

The monitors of the gym are students at the college who are trained to run and maintain the facility.  If you would like to become a paid monitor or be put on the monitor sub list come to a monitor meeting, usually held on the first Thursday of each term. Being a monitor also gives you the privilege to open the gym on your own and climb whenever you want.  Monitors are usually members of the [[Dartmouth Mountaineering Club]]

Every winter the gym monitors strip all the holds in the gym.  Graduate students and community members help set routes for the annual Dartmouth Undergraduate Climbing Competition, open only to Dartmouth students.  In the week after this competition, the students set even more routes for an intercollegiate competition the next weekend, open to all participants.

The Jonathan Belden Daniels Climbing Gym & its expanded Chuck Drake '90 & Josh Hane '89 Leadership & Training Room is located in the basement of the Maxwell Dormitory. With two rooms of walls of varying steepness and interesting features, holds of all kinds, ropes, harnesses, and climbing shoes, the Gym proudly accommodates all modes of climbing and ranges of ability, from the true beginner to the gym-rat expert.
